Margaret (White) Carter

87, of Mooresville, IN passed away on May 13, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital Mooresville. Margaret was born on October 30, 1931 in Rockville, IN to the late Wilbur H. and Virginia B. (Adkins) White.

Margaret grew up in Monrovia and was a graduate of Monrovia High School. She married Sonny Carter and they had six children. Widowed at a young age, she was forced to go to work and raise six children on her own. She was the matriarch and the rock of her family. Her family was everything to her and only second to her faith and love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a hardworking, strong, self-made woman, who went to work as a sous chef for Marriott and was a daycare provider to make ends meet for her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world and they will miss her very much. She was a member of New Life in Christ Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughters Pamela Schulz, Kimberly Martin; brothers William White and Thomas White.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Sonny Carter Jr., Ann Carter Hill, Patti Payton, Candance Miles; sisters Silver White, Mary Houk; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12-2pm at Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, IN, with services beginning at 2pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in West Newton Cemetery.

  1. Margaret was such a sweet lady! I enjoyed seeing and talking to her when I would go pick up Silver. One Sunday morning I came to pick up Silver and it was starting to sprinkle and I didn’t have my umbrella and Margaret came to the door and handed me the prettiest umbrella it had a big sun flower on top of it. I will never forget you Margaret!
