Martha A. Branson

Martha A. Keel White Branson, 70, Shelbyville, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2012, with her husband at her side. Mrs. Branson was born December 17, 1941, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to the late Richard Keel and Evalee (Randolph) Keel, who survives.

Marty was a devoted and loyal volunteer for twelve years at W.S. Major Hospital. She greatly enjoyed her work at the hospital and was disappointed when her health would no longer allow her the opportunity to work. Prior to, she was employed for a number of years at Kmart. Mrs. Branson was also a member of the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church and the Shelbyville Fire Fighters Ladies’ Auxiliary. A very loving and caring person, Marty will be missed by her beloved family and many friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Keel.

Survivors include her husband, Max D. Branson, to whom she was united in marriage August 20, 1983; mother, Eva Keel of Shelbyville; children, David White (Diane) of Avon, Mike White and Tonya Shearer, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Joshua Shearer, Stephanie Reeder, Jessica Shearer, Kyle White, and Kelli White; great grandchildren, Kylia Pike and Nicklie Shearer; step-children, Julie Barger (John) of Indianapolis, Mark Branson (Pam) of New Palestine, Doug Branson (Caren) of Lizton, Jeff Branson of Shelbyville, and Chris Branson (Mary Beth) of Mooresville; special nephew, Brett Keel; brother, Kenneth “Bud” Keel of Shelbyville; a host of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in the Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville. Rev. Dennis Hirschauer will officiate the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church.   2. To Max and Doug….grateful to have had a chance to know and spend time with all of you, even though it was a short time….I still remember fondly!!! Marty was a wonderful person and made me feel right at home the minute I met her!

  5. Sorry I could not make it to the visitation. Martha was such a help when my Mom and Dad were in Major Hospital. She always had a smile and was ready to listen. My brothers and I thankful she was there. When I found out that she was ill and no longer at the Hospital. I have been praying for her and her family.Now my prayers are with her family.May God be with you all. Marhta will missed by all.
