Martha "Sparkie" Elkins
91, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 11, 2022. Martha was born in North Salem, Indiana on July 22, 1930, to the late Robert and Doris Johnson. Sparkie was a 1947 graduate of Mooresville High School and a long time member of the Shelbyville Road Church of Christ. Martha was nicknamed "Sparkie" because of her "redhead" temper. She was known for her style of dress, that being, more is more! Sparkie loved to travel when she was able and always shared such fond memories of trips taken with her daughter, Sandy, granddaughters, niece Cathy and great nephew, Jeremy. Sparkie loved to shop garage sales and spending time with friends and family. Her favorite treat was a twinkie wrapped in bologna! She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
Sparkie is survived by her loving husband,: John Elkins, daughter; Sandy Carson and son-in-law; Jack Metcalf, of Brighton, Michigan, granddaughters; Candice Rushton (Barry Rosenthal), of Toledo, Ohio and Ingrid Rushton (Mario Ortega), of Ann Arbor, Michigan, grandsons; Max and Alex Rosenthal, along with bonus sons; Kevin and Shawn Elkins.

Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 12:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow at Mooresville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Sparkie's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory.
I’ve known Ms. Elkins since grade school….My sincere condolences to her family and friends. Even as a young friend of Sandy’s, I recognized that Ms. Elkins was to us bigger than life–with a big personality to go with it. I know that she will indeed be missed immensely by those in her life.
