Mary Inez Stapleton
87, of Mooresville, passed away on August 25, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Mary was born on January 19, 1939 in Lee County, Virginia to the late Lloyd and Florence (Cottrell) Hornsby.
In addition to raising her four children, she worked for Nice Pak in Mooresville for over 10 years before retiring. She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, cooking and tending to her flower garden. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, and kind mother who loved her family and was known to be a bit mischievous at times in playing pranks on those she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Stapleton, Sr.; son Perry Stapleton, Jr. and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children Connie Taylor (Norman), Sharon Stanton (Joe), Steve Stapleton (Amber); 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as siblings Nancy Parsons and Gene Hornsby (Janet).
In honoring Mary’s wishes, she will be cremated and her family and friends will gather to celebrate Mary’s life privately. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Perry, in West Newton Cemetery.
