Mary J. (Ahrndt) Strong

Mary J. (Ahrndt) Strong, 86, of Indianapolis passed away January 22, 2019. She was born October 20, 1932 in Laporte, Indiana to the late Arthur H. and Virginia E. (Baird) Ahrndt. Mary was married to the love of her life, Hal R. Strong, on June 12, 1954.

Mary graduated from Laporte High School in 1951 and continued her education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. For 24 years Mrs. Strong was a clerk for the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Women’s Circle at the church. Mary enjoyed bird watching, collecting rocks, and reading poetry. Mary was a sweet gentle soul with a perpetual smile that will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Hal R. Strong; daughters, Merri V. Cascio and Holly J. (Richard) Jones; a son, Hal R. (Robyn) Strong Jr.; grandchildren, David (Ellyn) Strong, Shawn Strong, Benjamin Strong, Jamie Davis, Fletcher Jones, Emily Jones, Hannah Jones, Claire Cascio, and Lauren (Tyler) Parke; and one great grandchild, Maeda Strong.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Mary Strong on Friday, January 25, 2019, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plainfield United Methodist Church: 600 Simmons St, Plainfield, IN 46168.
