Mary J. Barfield, 91, Monrovia, died June 25, 2012. She was born on April 21, 1921, in Greencastle, to the late Ralph Buis and Gladys Peyton.
Mary was worked for Bridgeport Brass. She was a funny, loving person who cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed to crochet and was often known to have a sweet tooth. Mary was a member of the Monrovia Christian Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Barfield, to whom she was united in marriage on April 4, 1942; and a daughter, Charlotte Day.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Barfield of Mooresville; daughters, Nancy Greeson of Monrovia, and Janice Barfield of Indianapolis; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral and cremation arrangements are being handled by Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. All services are being held privately.
