Mary Lou Johnson

Mary Lou Johnson, 94, Monrovia, died peacefully on June 7, 2013, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Mooresville. Mrs. Johnson was born January 11, 1919, in Indianapolis, to the late Harry and Mary (Barr) Pease.

She graduated from Monrovia High School in 1937. Mrs. Johnson was a sales clerk for 16 years for Habig’s Casuals. She was a devoted farm wife and proud homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was a faithful member of the Monrovia United Methodist Church, the Home Economic Club, and the Euchre Club. Mrs. Johnson was also an avid Indiana Hoosiers fan. Her memory will live on through a loving family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Johnson; son, Terry Johnson; brothers, Jack and Jim Pease; sisters, Gwendolyn Hobson, Betty Bell, Jo Guston, and Alice Corydon.

Survivors include one son, Steve Johnson and his wife, Yvonne, of Monrovia; sister, Joyce Barnett (Floyd) of Florida; grandchildren, Brian Johnson (Dawn), Gina Longere (Tony), and Brad Johnson (Jenny); great grandchildren, Chris, Isabella, and McKenna; Tara and Alaina; Zack, Mitchell, and Nolan.

Friends and family will gather on Monday, June 10, 2013, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in the funeral home. Rev. Gordon Esterline will officiate the service, and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
