Matthew Alann Ferreira

April 20, 1988 ~ October 16, 2026

Born in: Leesburg, Virginia
Resided in: Dayton, Ohio

Matthew Alann Ferreira, 38, a charismatic soul who squeezed every drop of joy out of life, passed away on October 16, 2026. Most recently living in Ohio, Matt was a longtime central Indiana resident at heart. Born in Leesburg, Virginia, on April 20, 1988, he was innately curious, loved to explore, and was close to his mother, “Patsy” (Repak) Gorman, and adored his sister Loren. He grew up in the Carmel community and graduated from Carmel High School before attending Indiana University.

Matt was a man of vibrant, diverse passions. His fascination with trains began at the early age of two and never faded. He was a collector of coins, an avid mushroom hunter who loved the deep peace of the woods, and a knowledgeable historian who could talk for hours about the Civil War. A passionate sports fan, he spent his autumns cheering on both the Redskins and the Colts. Matt loved to travel, thanks in part to his sister Loren who invited Matt to join her in Portugal in 2022. Matthew had a heartfelt connection to Rome, Italy, Lake Como, the Swiss Alps and a never-ending fascination with maps and geography.

But of all the titles Matthew held, his absolute favorite was dad. He loved his daughters fiercely, and they were the center of his world. He took Mia with him on some of his travels around the US. Mia also loved to explore the great outdoors and hunt for morel mushrooms with him.

Matthew’s legacy lives on through his daughters, Mia Angel Ferreira-Wood (and her mother, Jaci Wood) and Sofia Margaret Ferreira-Zell (and her mother, Caitlin Zell), who carry their father’s love of life forward. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Patsy (William) Gorman; his sister, Loren Nicole Ferreira; his father, Mark (Barbara Diaz) Ferreira; step-siblings Veronica Diaz, Rob Diaz, Kristina Walker, Elizabeth (Joe) Smoker, and Anne Gorman; his unwavering best friend, R.J. Pinto; and his many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as friends who became family. He was especially close to his grandparents, Pete and Beverly Repak and Al and Ann Ferreira.

Friends and family will gather to remember, honor, and celebrate Matt’s life on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory at 3 p.m.
