Myron F. Cassidy

Myron F. Cassidy, 76, Plainfield, passed away at home March 17, 2020. Myron was born December 30, 1943, in Lebanon, to the late Fred and Florence Cassidy.

He graduated from Brownsburg High School, attended Marian University, and graduated from Sam’s Technical Institute (now ITT). Myron worked early on for IBM, later, Digital Equipment, where he was employed in management for 20 years. He retired from Hewlett Packard in 2007. He enjoyed a job in his retirement years working for Enterprise Rental Car. An avid sports fan, Myron was an IHSAA football and slow and fast-pitch softball official for 20 years. He loved Notre Dame football and keeping up with high school football recruiting. Myron was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A faithful man, he was often found volunteering at church with the annual Applefest or on the Liturgy Committee. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7431 at St. Thomas More. Myron had also attended St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield from 1976-91.

He will be fondly remembered by his loving family as a supportive and dedicated husband and father. He was a faithful and generous man who will be missed by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Garvais Cassidy, Donald Cassidy, and Marilyn Benham.

Survivors include his wife, Christina “Tina” (Broadstreet) Cassidy, to whom he was united in marriage May 29, 1965; children, Brian (Gail) Cassidy of Mooresville, Jennifer Cassidy of Plainfield, and Christa Cassidy of Plainfield; brother, Tom (Donna) Cassidy of Brownsburg; two grandchildren, Hanna and Sara Cassidy; great granddaughter, Anabelle Cassidy.

Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2020, 4 to 8 pm, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Saturday, July 11, 2020, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in White Lick Cemetery.   3. Myron and I went to school together at Saint Malachy. It was wonderful to have reacquainted with him and St. Thomas More. He was a wonderful friend. Beth and I enjoyed his and Tina’s company when we toured Europe together. We will miss him and will be praying for him and his family. Due to my recent injury I’m not sure I will be able to make any memorial services, but know that my heart will be there with you

  11. I have known Myron for about eight years now and doing the job was one thing, but doing the job right was Myron Cassidy and to say he will be greatly missed is a disservice to him.
