Nancy C. Day

Nancy C. Day (née Light) went to meet her savior Jesus on July 10, 2026. Nancy was born April 13, 1939, in Indianapolis, IN. She married Thomas “Tom” Day on February 12, 1957.

Nancy lived in Twentynine Palms, CA, for a few years before moving back to Indiana, where she spent the rest of her life in Indianapolis and Greenwood.

Tom passed away in 1972, and from then on Nancy raised their four children alone, never remarrying. She was seen by many as a strong, formidable woman, yet she never lost her love and caring compassion for others.

Nancy spent much of her working life in various aspects of real estate. She also worked as a school bus driver for Center Grove Schools, a shuttle driver for the Indianapolis Airport and Lafayette Limo, and held several other jobs along the way. In addition to time spent with family, Nancy enjoyed relaxing at the horse races and the casinos.

Nancy will be remembered for her independence, her quick wit, and the quiet strength she gave to everyone around her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. “Tom” Day; her son, James F. “Jimmy” Day; and her sisters, Shirley Vance, Barbara Dunkin, and Patricia Kehl.

She is survived by her daughter, Violet “Vi” (Timothy) Spears; her sons, Alvis “Al” (Rochelle) Day and Thomas “Tommy” Day; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16th from 12:00pm- 2:00pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, in Mooresville, with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood, IN.
