Nathan Wade Martin

Nathan Wade Martin
Nathan Wade Martin, age 57, died peacefully on October 5, 2021 and passed into the loving hands of our LORD. He was born to Charles and Deloris Martin June 12, 1964 in Morris, IL. He fought a long hard battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) since 2014 and in recent years was also afflicted with colon cancer.

He lived a wonderful, active life as a father and grandfather. He made a career working as a Union Pipe Fitter for Local 597, where he became a part of a wonderful brotherhood….He loved building things and hand built himself a log cabin with intricate and unusual designs. Nate and his little brother Dan own property known as Pretty Lake. Nate would be happy to know Dan gets to continue pursuing their visions.

He also loved cars, owning many over the years. His most prized car was his 1968 convertible Impala that his daughter Laina will cherish for many years. He loved to work on them, race them and even build them from old clunkers to very polished and beautiful creations. He found a 1958 Chevrolet Impala and began to rebuild it for his father’s 70th birthday. He worked tirelessly and with perfection to create a beautiful turquoise coupe that was drivable and the envy of many.

He also loved motorcycles and always seemed to have one in his possession.
His most favorite was his Harley Davidson Road King that his big brother Dale will cherish for years to come. Nate was a man of many God-given talents. There was almost nothing that he couldn’t figure out.
Nate had many friends. One of his most loyal was his faithful dog Barney, a 15-year-old Blue Heeler that hardly ever left his side.

He had many aunts, uncles and cousins, along with a host of friends all across the country and he will be sorely missed by all of them. We just know he was a believer of the LORD Jesus Christ, and that the fruit of his life exhibited his generosity and the way he treated his family, especially his child and his grandkids. His good “works” demonstrated his love for both God and man. His many friends can testify to that.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and June Martin and Leland and Doris Gaines, his father Charles Martin in 2015, his nephew Daniel Martin in 2006, and two of his uncles recently: Clifford Martin (2018) and Walter Martin (2021).

He is survived by his daughter Laina (Wiktor) Zych of Mooresville, IN and grandchildren, Sydney, Wade, Lucyna, and Maya Zych. He’s also survived by his mother Deloris (Dee) Martin of Rensselaer, IN and two brothers; Dale (Dotty) Martin of Robinsonville, MS and Dan Martin of Knox, IN. Also surviving are former wives Lori (Tony) Wilson of Brownsburg, IN and Tish (Rob) Schmidt of Rensselaer, IN.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Iroquois Valley Christian Church, 2335 W Bunkum Rd, Rensselaer, IN on October 23rd at 3pm.

Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Please visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.

Guestbook

  1. As Nate’s daughter of course I have many many great memories!! But the most memorable one was the Hot Rod Power tour 2015..as a child I helped move his 68 Impala in crates from garage to garage never thinking we would see it finished. I was the luck one to go on a 3000 mile road trip with my dad!!! I didn’t even make it out of Valparaiso before almost rear-ending someone while dad was on phone verifying insurance! Then the first gas stop in Wisconsin I locked the key in the trunk:/ but all in all it was an amazing 10 days!

  2. Nat you will be missed by your Family and friends but no more pain for you my friend. Jesus had better plains for you just remember to keep an eye on your love ones down here if you see them do wrong just send them a sign and let them know that they are doing wrong and turn them in the right direction. Love Sara Mitchell Mary sister.
