Patricia Joyce Larison

June 13, 1935 ~ July 21, 2021
Patricia Joyce Larison, 86, passed away July 21, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Patricia was born June 13, 1935, in Indianapolis, to the late George and E. LaVaughn (Owens) Moore.
She graduated from George Washington High School, where she was homecoming queen her senior year, editor of the student newspaper, and more recently helped on the reunion committee. Patricia earned her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and Master’s degree from Butler University. She enjoyed a career in teaching at Valley Mills Elementary where she taught first and second grades. She was also the reading specialist for many years. When she retired from teaching, she continued working at FedEx for more than ten years. Needless to say, she stayed busy.
Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She was a dog lover. Her closest friends referred to their friendship club as the Chattering Chicks. She absolutely loved children – especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest fan whether the activity involved sports, dance, or drum core, Pat was proudly present. Perhaps her greatest lesson she leaves is that she never said a bad word about anyone. She will be fondly remembered by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Yvonne) Larison, Jr.; two daughters, Deborah (the late Richard) Mullen and Mary (the late Kirk) Huls; sister, Nancy Hastings; grandchildren, Jennifer (Alec) Mayer, Matthew (Stacy) Larison, Lee (Jennifer) Mullen, Ryan (Shannon) Mullen, Thomas Larison, and Dawn Larison; great grandchildren, Austin, Chase, Matt, Jake, Josh, Nolan, Hunter, Baylee, Owen, Abby, and Jake. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Moore.
The visitation and funeral service will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High Street, Mooresville. Visitation is on Saturday, July 31, 2021, 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, with the service beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood. My Aunt Pat, She was such a positive Angle of the world, All the love to you Dear Patricia Larison, She helped raise me, and is like my second mother. I will miss her. Such a beautiful soul ❤️
Deb and Mary, My condolences to all of Patty’s family. I have 32 years of fond memories watching Patty tend to her many flower beds, and loving her dogs–both large and small. The time would quickly fly by with our across-the-street visits!! I was aware of her several years of declining health, but none-the-less was shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. You provided a wonderful environment for her last two years, Deb. I know she loved seeing her flowers. My prayers go out to all your family. Anne Hall (Neighbor across the street)
You welcomed me in your home and in your heart you was truly a special soul thanks for the beautiful flowers that surround my home I will cherish them always and smile as I see them bloom years after year
So sorry to hear about mom, probably the best for her, but still tough times when it happen, take care and God Bless, Ed and Pat Gaddie
I remember Pat at Lynwood where we worked together. Pat was always involved whether it was during the school day or at the many fun faculty parties. She will certainly be missed. Jack Carpenter
Grandma Pat was a smile maker and bright spot in this world. May your cherished memories bring warmth and comfort. Love & Hugs from Texas.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Pat was my supervisor through her years in the reading lab. The Chattering Chicks fits her well. There were 5 of us at the lab and Pat was often referred to as a spinning wheel of information! We would confer afterwards and put together what she said!! Many laughs and had tons of fun! Sharon, Sandy and I have remained close after all these years. Rest In Peace!
