Paul “Poppy” Brown

 90 of Mooresville, passed away on October 6, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. Poppy was born on October 10, 1933 in Ulvah, Kentucky to the late Wayne Brown and Phoebe (Sumners) Brown.

Poppy was known as a jack of all trades as he worked many different jobs throughout his life to provide for his family, including coal miner, brick mason, gas station owner, and most recently for Navistar for 28 years, before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed fishing and hunting every chance he could. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist church. He will be remembered for his high standards and his great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Doris Brown, grandson Jason Phillips, and 3 siblings.

He is survived by his daughters Geneva Huffman, Grethel Johnson, Jeanine Parker; son Carl Brown, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 8 siblings and many extended family and friends, who will dearly miss “Poppy”. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Poppy’s life on Wednesday, October 9th from 12-2pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services beginning at 2:00pm Wednesday in the funeral home.     Uncle Paul and I could talk about hunting and fishing for hours. His laugh was intoxicating I always enjoyed his story’s. May the Lord lift you up at this difficult time and keep you all.
