Rachel Irene Gray

Rachel Irene Gray, 100, of Mooresville, passed away on January 2, 2023, in her home. Rachel was born in Cedar Grove, Tennessee, to the late Oscar & Cindy Gateley. Rachel was the co-owner of Dog-n-Suds for many years and only retired at the age of 84 years old. Rachel was a member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority and a member of Harvest House International Church in Mooresville. Rachel was strong, independent, caring, loving, and bold. She always displayed her southern hospitality to those around her. She enjoyed shopping at the “GW Boutique” (Goodwill), loved flowers, angels, and most of all her best friend & pup, Gizzy.
Rachel is survived by her children; Jeanette (Ken) Long and James Ralph (Nancy) Gray Jr., grandchildren; Marsha (Keith) Lyons, Scott Long, Melissa (Bill) Bryant, Jimmy (Lili) Gray, Justin (Whitney) Gray, and Dana (Gordon) Ledgerwood, great-grandchildren; Kelcie (Grant) Lewis, Kaley Lyons, Robert (Sarah) Miller, Heather Uhls, Taylor (Tristan) Becker, Uriah Howell, Kim Ledgerwood, Jenn Lake, Jazmine, Justin Jr., Colten, and Brooke Uhls, great-great-grandchildren; Presley, Kaydin, Christian, Danica, Hunter, Tyeson, Tinley, Taleigha, Tavia, Tyson, Madison, and Brycen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rachel is preceded in death by her loving husband: James Ralph Gray Sr., daughter; Linda Lou Howell, grandson; Chad Howell and great-grandson; Adam Miller.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with funeral service starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery in Martinsville.
