Randall L. Allen

Randall L. “Randy” Allen, 69, of Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 19, 2026.

Randy was born on August 29, 1956, in Indianapolis to Donald Allen and Myrna (Freels) Bassani. He was a man who lived life on his own terms, loved deeply, worked hard, and never pretended to be anything other than himself.

A 1974 graduate of Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia, Randy entered the United States Army at just 17 years old, serving in the Infantry and the 82^nd Airborne. His service to his country was a source of great pride throughout his life. That pride grew even stronger recently when his son, Zack, chose to follow in his footsteps and enlist in the Army.

Randy dedicated much of his life to serving others. He spent 20 years as a Transportation Security Officer with the TSA before retiring in 2018. Most recently, he worked in maintenance for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department. For many years, from 1996 to 2014, friends and neighbors also knew him from Allen & Son Barbershop, where he worked alongside family, sharing stories, laughs, and plenty of opinions.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, could spend hours talking about history, and never met a sci-fi story or conspiracy theory he wasn’t willing to explore. Randy was a former member of the Mooresville Lions Club and loved being part of his community.

Those who knew Randy understood that he was, above all else, authentically himself. He was blunt, stubborn, and often the first to tell you exactly what he thought. As many affectionately joked over the years, Randy was “the asshole”—but to Jill, he was her asshole, her “Richard”. Beneath that rough exterior was a generous and caring man who would do anything for the people he loved.

Randy’s love language was food. Whether he was grilling, cooking, or simply making sure everyone had enough to eat, caring for others came naturally to him. Nothing made him happier than seeing his family gathered together, comfortable, well-fed, and enjoying each other’s company.

Above all, Randy loved his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father, loyal brother, cherished uncle, and trusted friend. The memories he leaves behind will continue to bring laughter, comfort, and stories for years to come.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Wanda Allen; his stepfather, Gus Bassani; his brothers, Robert Allen and Thomas Bassani; and his nephew, Christopher Allen.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Jillian Allen; his children, Travis Allen of Virginia, Dominique (Dustin Jarboe) Chapman of Plainfield, and Zackariah Allen; his brothers, Russell (Debra) Allen and Tony (Jana) Bassani; his nieces and nephews, Kurtis Allen, Patrick Allen, Cody (Alexis) Allen, Megan (Brandon) Spangler, and Nick and Kelli Allen; Temperance Chapman; brothers-in-law, Matthew Chapman-Tomlinson (James Tomlinson- Chapman) and Timothy Chapman; mother-in-law, Tracy Watt (Bill); extended family members Randall Rogers, Randy Rogers, and David Rogers; his feline companions, Emma and Squirt; and his grand-dogs, Amelia and Stella.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Randy on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Carlisle–Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. A memorial service and time of sharing will begin at 6:00 p.m. Military honors will be presented by the Mooresville Honor Guard and the United States Army. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Rogers Family Farm in Eminence, 11048 W. Awbrey Road, Cloverdale, IN 46120.

Randy will be missed more than words can say, remembered more often than anyone could count, and loved always.
