Randy Fillin

Randy Fillin, 62, Martinsville, died April 23, 2012, in the Emergency Room at St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Randy was born May 15, 1949, in Evanston, Wyoming, to the late Oscar and Marjorie (Wall) Fillin.

Prior to moving to Morgan County approximately five years ago, Randy was a life-long resident of Wyoming. He graduated from Lyman High School. Randy worked for many years as a miner for General Chemical, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors, especially tinkering with his tractor. Randy was a member of Springhill Christian Center, Mooresville. Randy will be remembered fondly for his caring ways, dry sense of humor and his love for family.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin Fillin and Jay Fillin.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie (Harrell) Fillin, to whom he was united in marriage November 17, 1972; sons, David Swab (Debbie) of California, Dale Fillin (Kathy) of Wyoming, Dewey Swab (Edie) of Georgia, and Robbie Fillin of Martinsville; sister, Delinda Miller (Otis) of Texas; seven grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather on Friday, April 27, 2012, 4 to 8 p.m., at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Pastor Mark Wright will officiate the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in Springhill Christian Center, 12150 N. Rooker Rd., Mooresville.   2. My favorite memory with my grandpa randy was he used to take me to gas n go early in the morning for coffee. We would talk all morning then go work on the house in the afternoon and end up riding the four wheelers around half the day.   4. Randy and I grew up inseperable as cousins, and getting into mischief or just having fun everyday we could. He was always honest and open and made others laugh or smile and was always willing to be quiet and listen and then make sense out of what he heard. He is one of the last Fillin’s around, there are few males left to carry on the family name, and such a tragedy; but we still must live up to the legacy he left and the example he was. Genuine people are hard to find and we lost a great one.
