Richard E. "Rick" Morris

Richard E. “Rick” Morris, 73, Mooresville, passed away July 5, 2023, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, during his monthly trip to Tennessee.  Rick was born January 6, 1950, in Indianapolis, to the late Richard LeRoy and Margaret Lola (Richardson) Morris.  Rick married Virginia (Tansel) Morris on March 30, 1985, and she survives.

Graduating from Mooresville High School in 1969, Rick initially worked on the oil rigs before returning to Indiana.  He was employed with the James H. Drew Company for more than 20 years before beginning his own contracting firm that worked primarily with Hosten Bible.  Rick’s intelligence, work ethic, and his being a perfectionist made him a very talented handyman.  As he would say, he was a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Rick was a life-member of the VFW Post 1111, member of the American Legion Post 103, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3988.  He loved to sing Karaoke and never turned down an opportunity to go fishing.  He had been a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church and more recently attended Waverly Baptist Church with his sister.  When in Tennessee, he attended Warrensburg Baptist Church.  Rick will be fondly remembered for his kindness and generosity.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Virginia "Kay"; son, Richard Cody “R.C.” (Amanda) Morris; siblings, Dana (Jim) O’Neill, Tim (the late Donna) Morris, and Tammy (Russ) Riesenmey; grandchild, Trenton Morris.

Rick’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 East High Street, Mooresville.  Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, 4 to 8 p.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023.  Pastor David Ball will officiate, and the burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.  Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
