Rita J. Hardy

Rita J. (Tevebaugh) Hardy, 84, longtime Mooresville resident, passed away peacefully March 7, 2021. Mrs. Hardy was born April 2, 1936, in Vincennes, to the late Glenn W. and Ruth (Atkins) Tevebaugh. Rita married Glenn Hardy on May 3, 1957, and he survives.

She graduated from Bicknell High School; she and Glenn moved to Mooresville 1959. After being a stay at home mom, she worked for Indiana Bell Telephone, Merchants Property Insurance Agency, and retired from Hadley Cook & Quillen. She was an active and devoted member of Mt. Gilead Church since 1959 and began the prayer chain there in 1961. She was involved in Sunday School, Bible study, and making many costumes for the church theater productions. Simply put, Rita was an anchor for Mt. Gilead Church. Always an active mother, she was a den mother, involved in 4-H, and created many family memories with the family during countless camping trips throughout Indiana and the United States. She tolerated her children and LOVED her grandchildren! Rita will be fondly remembered for her generosity, compassionate manner, and delightful sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George and David Tevebaugh.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Glenn; children, Gary (Cindy), Julia (Keith) Schultz, Damon, Tim (Gemma); sister, Mary Deal, Barbara Owens; grandchildren, Sydney Hardy, Elijah Hardy, Meagan (Robert) Whitaker, Caleb (Holly) Hardy, Ethan Hardy, Danielle (Bret) O’Brian, Matthew (Makenzie) Hardy, Adam (Ashley) Schultz, Mervin (Erin) Schultz, Aaron Schultz; great grandchildren, Tenley and Layla Schultz; Morgan Hardy, and Decklan O’Brian.
