Rita Jo Lundy

January 20, 1942 ~ December 8, 2022
Rita Jo Lundy, 80, longtime Mooresville resident, joined her beloved husband, Cecil Ray, in heaven on December 8, 2022. Rita was born January 20, 1942, in Martinsville, to the late George and Lola (Baldwin) Busbee.
She attended Monrovia High School, and she and Cecil were united in marriage on January 18, 1960. They began a family that consisted of their five children, Barbara (Duane), Ray (Dawn), Patty (Dale), Connie (Randy) and Scott. Rita’s life was complete in her vocation as a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She was an incredible cook – you never wanted to miss her beans & cornbread, chicken & noodles, fried potatoes, or flitters. An accomplished seamstress, Rita crafted countless quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Rita loved her grandchildren immensely and showed that love by attending their various events and simply being present for them. She also enjoyed ceramics, bowling, playing euchre and rook. Rita was employed for more than 30 years with the Mooresville Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria and later as a bus aid. Rita’s memory will be forever cherished as “THE Best Mom Ever”.
In addition to her five children, she also leaves behind brothers, Keith, and Howard Busbee; sisters, Sharon Johnson, Cheryl Jeffries, Linda Igney, Janice Payne, Sarah Skinner, and Phyllis Busbee; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

You will be missed my heart is with all my cousins. Thinking of you all. I will miss seeing you at different places. You are now at peace and pain free much love and prayers to you all❤️
Rita was a wonderful person, I used to visit with her when Cecil repaired our vehicles. We both were so upset when the fabric store in Mooresville closed and joked about opening our own store. I loved their house in the country, it was so pretty ! Rita and Cecil were special people, simply “the best” They are both in my thoughts every time I drive down Bethel Rd.
I have so much admiration and respect for this wonderful lady and her family. I know how much she will be missed by her loved ones. My condolences to you all. Curt
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Such a wonderful lady, reunited with her loving husband, but missed dearly by her children and family and friends. Prayers of comfort for her family.
