Rita Kay (Peters) Floyd

Rita Kay (Peters) Floyd, 75, Mooresville, passed away September 29, 2022. Rita was born July 31, 1947, in Tangier, Indiana, to the late Jens and Hazel (Stoup) Peters. She married her beloved husband, Jerry, on July 2, 1972, and he survives.

Rita graduated from Turkey Run High School and attended Indianapolis Business School. She worked for Cassen Co. LLC for over forty years, retiring as their office manager.


Rita was a charter member of the American Business Women’s Association, Monument Chapter, for many years. She was a lifetime member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority in Mooresville and was active in the sorority’s queen contest for years. Rita enjoyed ceramics and crocheting, but her most cherished pastime involved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to babysit for many of their grandchildren through the years, creating wonderful memories for all of them.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela (Floyd) Stewart; a brother, Harvey Peters; nephew, David Peters.


Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Jerry Floyd; son, Gary (Wanda) Floyd; daughter, Patricia (Michael) Miller; sister, Gloria (Lyle) Daniels; grandsons, Christopher and Aaron Floyd; granddaughters, Melissa (Jason) Reichenbach, Vanessa (Tyler) McCauley; Bethany (Dennis) Gillikin; great grandchildren, Ethan, Ashlynn, and Chelsey Reichenbach, Amy, and Lacey Floyd, Benjamin, Chloe, and Hailey McCauley; and many nephews and nieces.


Rita’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Visitation is Thursday, October 6, 2022, 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday, October 7, 2022, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.  The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
