  1. When I was very very young, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Wood’s house for Christmas as was tradition. The house always smelled of something baking and firewood burning. To this day, I prefer a Camp Fire or Pumpkin Pie Yankee Candle over any other, doesn’t matter the season. This particular year, Grandpa Woods took me with him to the golf course to hunt for golf balls. It was so cold and there was snow on the ground. I wondered over to one of the ponds where I stepped out onto what I thought, was solid snowy ground..I walked a couple feet off the bank before I fell through the ice. I remember the shock of the cold frozen water stabbing my skin. Immediately a sand trap rake was right there in front of me and Grandpa Woods yelling for me to grab the rake. Next thing I know, the man who has always squeezed my hand to death until I said mercy, wass now squeezing my entire body so tight to keep me warm that I couldn’t breathe haha! When we got back to the house he put me in front of wood burner where it was always warm. Luckily, no one was back yet (probably shopping) to ask any questions about why I was butt naked with a blanket in front of the fire. He told me we’d keep this our secret, and to stay right next to the fire. I dont think we brought home any golf balls that day haha! A great memory I’ll never forget about my Great Grandpa Woods. -I often get yelled at when I’m at the golf course when a group is behind me. For some reason I can’t resist the urge to find another golf ball once I find one. “Yep, this is about 250yds yds from the tee and to the right, gonna be lots of golf balls in this area.”

  2. So many good memories of this great man. A firm handshake and always an uplifting greeting. He loved the outdoors. Sincere condolences to family. Adrien&Mary Corenflos
