Robert C. Scaggs

Robert C. Scaggs, 72, of Spencer, passed away November 17, 2019. Robert was born May 5, 1947, in Indianapolis, to the late Robert S. and Dorothy (Soots) Scaggs. He married the love of his life Marilyn Ogborn on August 13, 1965.

Robert graduated from Mooresville High School. He worked for USPS as a letter Carrier for 30 years retiring in 1995. Even after retiring from the USPS Robert would stay busy being the maintenance supervisor at Echo Lake and working at Spencer Speedway. Robert was a long time member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a lifetime member of the NALC Branch 39 for 53 years. Robert was a very family orientated man; he would not miss any family events or sporting events of the grandchildren. He enjoyed many activities such as fishing, bowling, metal detecting, collecting coins, watching football and NASCAR. He is going to be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Scaggs of Spencer; children, Robin J. Fisher, Robert M. “Bobby” (Hope) Scaggs, and Tommy H. (Tammy) Scaggs; siblings, William “ Bill” Scaggs Cheyenne Scaggs, Evelyn Westenhofer , Rebecca “Becky” Scaggs, Janice Scaggs Barnhart, Michelle Scaggs of Mooresville, Vicki Burdon of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Dixie Wilson of Florida; grandchildren, Stephanie Fisher, Stephen Fisher, Derek Robertson, Bobby Scaggs, Michael Scaggs, Julia Scaggs, and Logan Scaggs; and great grandchildren, Jaylee, Derick, Timothy.

Visitation will be Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m., November 21, 2019 at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., November 22, 2019, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Indiana. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory.   1. Bobby was a great and good guy. As my Mooresville HS Cross Country teammate I always finished a couple of hundred yards behind him. That kid could run. Sorry for your loss. He was a fine friend.

  4. I am so sorry to read this about Bob. Bob was always a good man. He would help you anyway he could. Bob and Marilyn were so sweet and nice. I was so lucky to have crossed paths with them at Mobile home park. They helped me in many ways and were good friends. He will be truly missed. Prayers to all the family and friends.

  5. I would love to tell the family what a joy it was going into our local Speedway and seeing him and him and his positive attitude. We talked about his son and myself being in the office furniture installation field. I had a severe back injury during the time I had met him and he talked about his to me very sincerely He would Always be the one to say if but but short on paying I got it. Never asking to pay it back this was never myself but others in the store that were struggling a little bit. Bless him and his wife and family as this little town n this big tooo busy world. If this world there were more people like BOB it would b a much better place to LIVE. GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY. couldn’t make services I hope his family sees this that’s how much his positivity affected me.
