Rocky Allen Baker

Rocky Allen Baker

71 of Mooresville, passed away on May 26, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Rocky was born on May 17, 1953 in Clinton, North Carolina to the late James Luby Baker and Naomi Ruth (New) Baker.

Rocky proudly and honorably served in the US Army, in Germany during Vietnam. He was a long time and proud member of the American Legion Post #103 in Mooresville. Rocky was a semi-truck driver for many years and holds the unique distinction of driving a truck in all 50 states, including Hawaii, that he was able to check off his bucket list, just last year. He will be remembered for his heart of gold that he often wore on his sleeve, as well as his deep love for his family and friends. No matter how you knew him, as Rocky, “The Rock”, “Rocky Top”, or “Crash” (his CB handle), he will be dearly missed by all!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Rodney Baker and a sister Bonita Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanja Walter (Michael); son Marcus Baker (Kimberly); siblings Pamela Eberhardt (Joseph), Ronald Baker, Sharon Beaver, Carolyn DeCamp (Donald), Jeffery Baker (Jennie); grandchildren Tylere, Jakob, Cassie, Korbin, Alyssa, Hailey, Caitlyn and his great grandsons, Kyzer and Brantley.

  1. This man was always a dad to me. He would do anything for anyone. Even his worst friend. He will always live on in the hearts of us all. TJ and Marc. I love you both so much. And so did he.

  2. I served with Rocky on the House Committee for awhile and we loved working at the Legion. I met Rocky when I first transferred from Post #64 and loved talking and drinking a cold one at #103
He will be missed, I always like him because he was real and told you exactly how he felt about whatever the subject was. Goodbye My Friend
