Roger Dale Hunt

Roger Dale Hunt “Papaw Rog”, 73, Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Monrovia, passed away October 4, 2021, in the care of his family. Roger was born March 18, 1948, in Indianapolis to the late Junior and Hazel (O’Neal) Hunt.

As a Monrovia resident, he loved raising his kids with his wife of 53 years, JJ Hunt, in a community that valued friendships and family. Roger, a proud veteran, served in the United States Army in Korea and was attached to the 34th Engineer Division in Vietnam. Knowing what all they had sacrificed he paid tribute to those that never made it home by attending the annual 34th Combat Engineer reunion. Roger worked for 30 years for GM Truck and Bus and also stayed busy managing investment properties. He and JJ continued celebrating their life together while living near Tampa, Florida and enjoying his Wellington community family and friends. As an avid boater and loving grandfather, he enjoyed sharing his passion of aerospace, movies concerning galaxies from far, far away, along with his interest in old cars and trucks that included his 1935 Ford pickup.

In addition to JJ, he is survived by son, Tyron Hunt (Elizabeth Bardon Hunt) and daughter, Tanya Hayse (Shaun Hayse); and grandchildren, Trey (fiancé Grace Smith), Emma, and Tatum Hunt, Kasey Hunt-Short, and Brooklyn Hayse; brother, Michael Hunt (Judy Hunt) and family; brother, Stan Hunt (Vicki Hunt). Roger had no sisters but considered his sisters-in-law to be his sisters.
