Ronald F. Yates

Ronald F. Yates, 74, Mooresville, died May 8, 2013, in Community Hospital South, Indianapolis. Mr. Yates was born October 11, 1938, in Princeton, Kentucky, to the late Woodrow W. and Margaret (Holsapple) Yates.

Ron graduated from Huntington (West Virginia) High School, attended Bloom Community College, and graduated from Trine University. He worked for more than 30 years for Duke Energy (formerly PSI Energy) as an electrical engineer, retiring in 1996. Mr. Yates was a very faithful member of the Mooresville Church of God for more than 45 years and also heavily involved in the Crossing Over Men’s Bible Study. In addition, he served for many terms on the Mooresville Public Library Board and was instrumental in the building of the new library in Mooresville. Ron had also been a member of the Mooresville Lions Club. He enjoyed computers, but above all loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles W. Yates; brother, Richard Yates.

Survivors include his wife, Sally (Hardy) Yates, to whom he was united in marriage on July 31, 1965, in Whiting, Indiana; children, Elizabeth Yates (Helen Kesterson) of Indianapolis, Patricia Allen of Mooresville, M. Michelle Fosnaugh (Chris) of Groveport, Ohio, and James Yates (Erica Gray) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Maureen Kesterson-Yates; Travis and Tret Allen; Sarah Kay and Laura Michelle Fosnaugh.

Friends and family will gather from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, in the Mooresville Church of God, 218 E. Main Street. Pastor John Crump will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn, Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County, or to Gideons International.
