Samuel H. Rowlett

78, of Mooresville, passed away on April 21, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Sam was born on December 29, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Robert C. Rowlett and Elizabeth Crawford.

Sam proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. Family and service to others were the cornerstones of Sam’s life. After serving in the Air Force, Sam started his professional life as a fireman for IFD, before becoming a police officer for IPD, retiring in 1993. After retirement, he continued to serve, working at the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and St. Vincent Hospital Security. A family man, Sam enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to the music of the 1950’s and 60’s, collecting vinyl records, watching TV shows like Gunsmoke, traveling to festivals, as well as destinations all over the Southwest United States. He was a member of the New View Community Church and was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Endicott.

He is survived by his wife, Romona (Holloway) Rowlett; daughter Teresa (Steve) Proffitt; stepdaughter Becky (Caleb) Achenbach; sisters Judy (Gene) Kientz, Bonnie Dulin, and grandchildren Zachary (Michelle), Colin (Laila), Avery, Aurora, Isabelle; a great granddaughter Abby, and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Sam’s life on Friday, April 28th from 2-4pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services beginning at 4pm Friday in the funeral home.
