Sharon Juanita Byrne

October 7, 1939 ~ February 5, 2023
Sharon Juanita Byrne, 83, Mooresville, passed away February 5, 2023. Mrs. Byrne was born October 7, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Thomas Bradley and Ella Venita (Herndon) Hill. She married Raymond Carroll Byrne, Sr. on August 23, 1958, and he survives.
Sharon graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1957. Armed with a tremendous work ethic and a sharp mind, she worked in research for Eli Lilly & Company for 30 years. When she learned that retirement was a little slow for her taste, Sharon became the office manager for her cousin, Dr. Roger Collicott for 13 years. Her second retirement job was that with the Mooresville Schools in transportation. She became “Mamaw Sharon” to many special needs students, assuring their safety, in getting to school and back home. She retired from this job at the age of 80.
Church and serving the Lord was at the forefront of Sharon’s life. She was a former member of the Mooresville Church of God and more recently the Brooklyn Church of God. Sharon served as a children’s teacher, on various boards, led worship, sang in the choir, and ensured that 50 children were fed a good meal every Wednesday night. Sharon’s generous spirit was always evident in her actions. Her generosity continued even in death when she was able to become a tissue donor through the Indiana Donor Network.
The oldest of five children, Sharon was a natural leader and a wonderful role model to her siblings. Family remained a focal point in her life – always the matriarch and serving with her time, talent, and treasure. Sharon’s memory will be forever cherished by her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Raymond C. Byrne, Sr.; children, Debbie (Randy) Parmerlee, Raymond C. (Melissa) Byrne, Jr., Becky (Rodney) Walker, and Cindy Tackett; siblings, Gloria (Jack) Wrightsman, Thomas (Chris) Hill, Jr., Bonnie (Terry) Woods, and Connie (Brad) Bradberry; grandchildren, Randy Parmerlee, Jr., Ryan Parmerlee, Ross Parmerlee, Jacob Byrne, Abigail Byrne, Rodney Walker, Jr., Kristi Kean, Nicholas Tackett, and Jenna Tackett; 13 great grandchildren.
Sharon’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Brooklyn Church of God, 8606 N. Country Club Road, Mooresville. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., in the church on Friday, February 10, 2023. Burial will follow at the Mooresville Cemetery.
