Silver J. White

Silver J. “Nanny” White, 85, Mooresville, former longtime Monrovia resident, passed away peacefully at home December 7, 2022. Silver was born September 9, 1937, in Monrovia, to the late Wilbur and Virginia (Atkins) White.

She graduated from Monrovia High School and worked for the former McCloud’s Market and later for Dairyland, both in Monrovia. A hard-working lady, Silver also worked at Nice-Pak and later retired from the Camby Meijer where she worked for many years as the greeter. Sliver was a member of the Monrovia United Methodist Church and the Monrovia Order of the Eastern Star. Silver or Nanny, as she was affectionately known by many, devoted her lives to others. She was a natural caregiver to her parents and many family members who at different times needed and relied on her unfailing help. She was a huge basketball fan and cheered loudest for the Indiana Pacers. Silver was also a professional wrestling fan – she looked forward to Mondays and Fridays when she would tune into watch all her favorites. Nanny will be fondly remembered by her loving family and many friends for her generous, kind, and caring nature.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, William and Thomas White; sisters, Margaret Carter and Mary Houk.

Survivors include her daughter, Candace Miles; great nieces and nephews, Shelby Hamilton and Sean Drew; best friend, Pongie Moore; a host of nieces and nephews that she played an instrumental role in all of their lives.

Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2022, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., followed by burial at the Mooresville Cemetery. Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
