Sylvia Sue Goldsberry

September 12, 1944 ~ December 7, 2020
Sylvia “Sue” Goldsberry
76, passed away December 7, 2020 in the presence of her children.
Sue was born in Greencastle Indiana on September 12, 1944 to Myrdell and Frank York, while Frank was a prisoner of war in Germany.
She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1962. She loved bowling, golfing and was a good equestrian. She loved taking pictures of her family and nature. Sue married the love of her life, Gary Goldsberry who predeceased her in July of 2020. Because of Gary’s passion for flying, Sue became deeply involved with aviation too (helicopters and gyros). She wrote and published the PRA monthly newsletter and enjoyed the fly-in meets all over the country as well as with their local PRA club Chapter 34 in Greencastle.
Her dedication to her church, Crossland Baptist Church in Stillesville, was evident to all who knew her and the joy she received being apart of that Church Family. Her prayer list was long!
Sue is survived by her brothers, Ron and Jon York and by her 4 children, Brent, Mike, and Joe Alexander and Janie Baschwit as well as Gary’s children Lynn Goldsberry and Shelly Romero, along with multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9th from 2-6pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with Memorial services beginning at 6pm, Saturday in the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Crossland Baptist Church in Sue’s name.

Sue and Gary both were great neighbors. Sue like to bake us cookies and Gary always made sure my driveway was plowed before it was time for me to leave for work. I hated moving away from them but am glad that we kept in touch. Sending much love to the family. ♥️
My husband Ken bought a helicopter from Gary 20 years ago and Gary taught him to fly. Every week we would make the drive from Chattanooga for lessons. Gary and Sue were so welcoming and thoughtful. Sue of course was Gary’s biggest fan and he couldn’t have been such a powerhouse without her support. We learned that Gary had passed just a month or so ago when we Googled Brantly to see if our helicopter was still in force. (Gary did the annual on it about 2 or 3 years ago and a guy from Alaska drove to their house to pick it up on the trailer my husband Ken had made.) We sent Sue a note and did not hear from her but assumed due to Covid she might be staying with some of you kids. I Googled her name and learned of her death. We are so sorry. Sue was such a delight and she loved her family so much. I imagine she and Gary are in Heaven playing with Red Dog who can now chase moles forever. Kim and Ken Kelly
I’ve known Sue and Gary since I started in the sport of Gyroplane flying 15 years ago. I would see them every year at Mentone airport with Gary demonstrating gyro flight and assisting fellow gyronauts, and Sue helping run the event. They were tremendous ambassadors for the sport and they will be sorely missed. Sue’s friendly smile and kindness were what made many of us feel so welcome there. John Anderson
Our condolences to all the family who are missing Sue and Gary so much. We are missing them as well. Sue and I had a budding friendship, as we talked of our flowers and birds, and our pilot husbands, and our children. In the future may you all find comfort in their memories. Roger and Evelyn Beard
