Tincie L. Payne
85, of Mooresville, passed away on September 1, 2026, at Miller’s Manor in Mooresville. Tincie was born on November 18, 1940, in Pennington Gap, Virginia to the late Clifford Crusenberry, Sr. and Eva M. (Ewing) Crusenberry.
Tincie worked as a baker and cook for Gray Brothers Cafeteria for over 30 years, before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, as well as reading, watching Westerns, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She will be remembered as a strong, determined, hardworking, mother, who was small but mighty with a no-nonsense personality.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Enos Crusenberry, Ricky Crusenberry, Clifford “Bud” Crusenberry; sister Shirley Trusty; a son Wayne Payne as well as her former husband David Payne.
She is survived by her sons Mike Payne, Steve Payne (Julie); sisters Lena “Bea” Beard (Randy), Veda Ely (Tom); grandchildren Madison, Shiann, Taylor, Cortnie, Andy; 5 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly.
The family would also like to thank her special caregivers, Nancy, Kelli, Sue, Julie, and Helayne for all of their dedicated, compassionate care.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Tincie’s life on Friday, Sept. 4th from 1-3pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with graveside services at 3:30pm in Mooresville Cemetery.
