Vera Lee Schmidt

Vera Lee Schmidt, 85, Martinsville, died February 12, 2013, in her residence. Mrs. Schmidt was born March 15, 1927, in Marion County, to the late Roy Adrian and Mae Elizabeth (Rickey) Linder.

Mrs. Schmidt was a quality control technician for McCormick’s Food. She was a member of North Madison Baptist Church and had also served as the Worthy Matron of the Mooresville Order of the Eastern Star. She will be missed by a very loving family.

Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her husband, George William Schmidt; sons, Steven L. Schmidt and Rodney Gene Schmidt; brothers, Howard R. Linder and James Linder.

Survivors include son, George Raymond Schmidt, Richard Earl Schmidt, Glenn William Schmidt (Louise), Bryan Jay Schmidt (Kathy), Donald Allan Schmidt (Annette); daughters, Connie A. Lafary (Joe), Paula L. Basey (David); step-daughter, Shirley M. Moffitt; step-son, Robert L. Schmidt; sisters, Mary E. West and Carol J. Dunz; 27 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013. The Order of the Eastern Star service will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Rev. Billy Gott will officiate, and burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery.
