Victor K. Franklin

October 6, 1951 ~ August 16, 2012
Victor K. Franklin, loving father, grandfather, brother and son, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 16. Vic, a resident of Lexington, S.C. , was a native and long-time resident of Mooresville. He was 60.
Vic was the Southeast region sales manager for National Tube Supply Co., based in University Park, Ill.
Vic was best known among family and friends, however, for his unrelenting sense of humor. Even as he dealt with painful health issues in recent weeks, Vic never lost his sense of humor. He brightened every room with his quick one liners and jokes. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, virtually all of whom were the victims of his extravagant practical jokes.
He also cherished spending time with his best friend, Dan Lentz of North Augusta, Georgia.
Vic and his late father, Warren, and brother, Steve, were kindred spirits in their love of cars. He was a devoted son, checking in on his mother, Betty, every day. He frequently made the long drive from South Carolina to Indiana to spend time with his son, Chris, and daughter, Amy, and their families.
He was a past master of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his mother, Betty (Knox) Franklin of Mooresville; children, Amy Gaton (Mike) of Wanamaker and Christopher Franklin (Kelly) of Plainfield; brother, Steve Franklin (Pat) of Camby and Tim Franklin (Alison) of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Lexi Franklin, Brooklyn Franklin, Riley Franklin, Austin Franklin, Elyssa Hurst, and Marilynn Grace Gaton; best friend, Dan Lentz.
Friends and family will gather on Monday, August 20, 2012, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. A Masonic Memorial will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in the First Christian Church, 525 N. Indiana St., Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, 800 Indianapolis Road, Mooresville, IN 46158. I can not adequately express the profound grief and sense of loss that I feel. Vic has been a friend and more importantly a Brother to me for a great many years. We have ‘held’ each others hands thru some very trying times in both of our lives. I can only say this of my friend and brother. The void left by his passing will never be filled. For my Sister Kathy as well as Amy, Chris, their spouses and the grand kids I pray that God’s love will comfort you and know that he hurts no more. To Betty and Vic’s brothers I say this. He sleeps in the arms of Our Lord and waits for us to be joined again. To my brother and friend I say since I won’t see you again in this world, I’ll see you in the next one…don’t be late!!!!
I remember my daddy teaching me to ride my bike. Pushing me up and down the street without ever giving up. There were a lot of trips up and down the street. He approached his whole life like that. Working hard for those he loved and never giving up on anyone. He is an amazing man. I am only away from him for a while. I will have an eternity with him in Heaven. I will miss him only for now. Amy
VIC YOU WERE A GOOD FRIEND, AND WILL BE MISSED…… KERRY CROWE.
I remember Vic when we both stood up for his brother Phil’s wedding, when Phil married my sister Lorraine in our home town of Black River Falls, Wi.. We were both about 14 at the time, i always remembered how nice he was. Through the years i’d ask how Vic was doing, and got a update of what was going on in his life. So now it is with great saddness that I send sympathy to his mother, Betty, his children, grandchildren and his brothers Phil, Steve, and Tim and their families. Paul & Susie [ Lechner ]Revis
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of loss…..Often, even when we know the end is near, the finality can be hard to accept. Please know, my dear friends, that my heart is with you and I pray that God will comfort you in knowing that Victor is at peace now, with no pain or suffering, and I further hope helps you all to find peace, too. With warmest regards and sympathy, Larry Gajderowicz
His memory will always be with us. Phil & Lorraine Franklin
Dear Aunt Betty, Steve, Tim, Amy Jo, Chris and all extended family. In finding out how ill Vic was and what was taking place last Thursday, I had a quiet moment and I saw Dad (Uncle Charlie) and Uncle Warren greeting Vic, with big smiles. Vic was one of a kind and will be missed. Sherry Franklin
Barb and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of loss. I was unaware of Vic’s recent health struggles, and our memories are like many others, those of a vibrant, funny, dedicated man, first to his family then the other things in life. That is Vic’s legacy. He was a friend and will be missed, by all his family and friends. Fred and Barb Parker
My sympathies to the family. Victor was a good man and I’m sure that the loss of him is a great sorrow to the family. May God bless and comfort you all. Ron Riggan
