William E. Hergel

William E Hergel, 86, of Mooresville, IN passed away on June 14, 2026 at his home. He was born in Indianapolis on August 4, 1939 to John A Hergel and Carrie (Ulmer) Hergel.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Brenda L (Goodman) Hergel, daughters Susan Goddard and Gail Lindsey (Kevin), stepdaughters Robyn Neitzel (Dana), Angela Pugh (Emmitt), grandchildren Paul Lindsey (Lori), Megan Kennemore (Chad), Samantha Quillen (Drew), Bryan Lindsey, Jordan Penrod, Logan Whisenand (Christina), Branson Pugh, Hunter Dickerson, Saylor Dickerson, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons William P and William J, grandson John Goddard, granddaughter, Crystal Lindsey; son-in-law John Goddard, and siblings Gerald Hergel, John Hergel, Gene Hergel, Linda Daley, and Marylou Hergel.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman, loved riding his motorcycle with his devoted friends. He had a passion for arm wrestling, running, basketball and fitness. He also had the best green thumb and beautiful garden.

His family wants to thank Luminary Hospice for the dedicated work and care they have shown us and our neighbors Steve and Donna for being there when we most needed them.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory.  The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon, on Thursday, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery.  Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
