William Henry Braughton

William Henry Braughton, 83, Camby, died October 28, 2011, in St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Mr. Braughton was born June 12, 1928, in New Paris, Ohio, to the late Henry Taylor and Lucille (Cowgill) Braughton.

Mr. Braugthon proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for 44 years for Conrail Rail Road as a Production Engineer, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion in New Paris, Ohio and the Mooresville VFW Post 1111. He was also a faithful member of The Church at Mt. Gilead and enjoyed spending time at the Mooresville Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Mae Linkous Braughton; son, Terry; brothers, Gary and Robert Braughton.

Survivors include his son, Todd A. Braughton (Michelle) of Camby; daughter, Vicki A. Alumbaugh (Jerry) of Mooresville; sisters, Joann Moore of Ohio, Linda Johnson of Ohio and Verna Jean Arden of Richmond; brother, Herschel Braughton of Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer Alumbaugh, William Alumbaugh (Misty) and Carlotta Braughton; great grandchildren, Ethan William Alumbaugh and Kaleb Paul Alumbaugh; aunt, Violet McCain of Ohio; 33 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2011. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.   1. I grew up with all the Braoghtons and we did have some times! Maybe Joann remembers. Delores Harkleroad had a crush on Billy ,but I was just his friend. We all had good old fashion fun i n our day! Sorry for all of the family loss. Lawana Hunt.
